Saude Creek Vineyard

A couple of weeks ago I got the amazing privilege of going to a private wine tasting at the Saude Creek Vineyard. Having never gone to any type of wine tasting I had no idea what I was in for! When Saturday morning finally came I along with one of my closest friends loaded ourselves into my car and we made our way up to Lanexa Virginia. The drive only took about 45 minutes but the road leading to the vineyard was beautiful. It was an average road lined with the most beautiful trees with there multicolored leaves, the dark crimson reds, the vibrant bright yellows, and the deep crisp oranges. Fall is one of my favorite times of year and being at the vineyard made it finally feel like fall to me especially with all the warm weather we had been having.

Once we arrived at the vineyard we were met with fields and fields of grape vines. They looked amazing and seemed to go one for miles. Once you turn the corner past the beginning of the vineyard you finally see the venue. The building is beautiful and looks just like a nice farm house settled in the field. As we parked the car the excitement began to build as we looked around and saw how gorgeous the scene was that we got to be apart of for the next few hours. We quickly made our way inside the building where we were met with the sound of all the people enjoying their afternoons having their wine tastings and the smell of the BBQ lunch were going to be served later. There was a gentleman who was directing us with tickets as to where to go and where we could find the activities for us a.k.a the food and the wine tasting. Once we were given our food wristbands we made our way downstairs where the wine tasting was being  held for us. We descended the stairs and the temperature immediately dropped and we knew we were going into the cellar.

Once in the cellar there were round tables set up with white table cloths with navy blue runners going down the middle. The air was cool with the smell of wood, cork, and wine all mixing together around us. We made our way over to the wine bar and had the gentleman explain to us which types of wine they had available for tasting. I’m a sweet wine kind of girl so as soon as he said he had a sweet white and a sweet red I was ready to make my picks for tasting. I tried the sweet white first and it was good but I would’ve preferred something a bit sweeter, overall it was still a delicious glass of wine. However, when the first sip of the sweet red hit my lips I was in heaven, it had a deep cherry undertone and a fruity sweetness to it that I instantly loved.

We quickly asked for a refill of the sweet red and after the gentleman poured us a generous glass of wine we made our way over to one of the tables to sit down and gush over how cute and amazing everything was. After we finished our glass we made our way out of the cellar and back out to patio where lunch was being served. We grabbed our plates and found a nice little table close to the fire pit to eat our lunches. Lunch itself was so good, it was a catered BBQ lunch including pulled pork sandwiches, baked mac n’ cheese, green beans, and coleslaw.

While we ate we just looked around enjoying the scenery. And I’ll tell you what, there was not a bad view anywhere at this place. No matter where you looked it was absolutely beautiful

By the time we were done with our lunch a few seats around the fire pit had opened up and we quickly jumped up to grab them because nothing screams fall afternoon more than sitting around a fire pit drinking a glass of wine.

We could’ve spent years in that spot but unfortunately our time at Saude Creek had to come to an end and what a better way to end it than by a nice fire on a beautiful fall day. When we finally made our way back to the car we were sad to be leaving but we both agreed that we would be back again in the near future because who can say no to good food, delicious wine, and a spectacular view.
